Father of AI

September 4, 1927 - Around 94 years ago tomorrow marks the day that the "Father of Artificial Intelligence," Jonathan McCarthy, was born. McCarthy is best remembered for his many contributions to computer and cognitive science from the 1950s onwards. After graduating from Cal Tech and Princeton, McCarthy went on to develop the first computer language designed for writing AI programs, named LISP.LISP was built for easy manipulation of data strings, primarily used in AI programming. This language is one of the oldest programming languages still in use today. McCarthy once famously said, "We should try to make AI systems as good as children.” His objective for creating AI was to explore ways that machines could reason like humans, think abstractly, problem-solve, and - most interestingly - improve themselves.Read More: LISPJohn McCarthyAI with LISP
