Say Hello to iMac

May 6, 1998 – After taking up the first half-hour of his presentation trying to convince the world that Apple wasn't failing as a company, Steve Jobs unveiled the iMac - the first of its kind. The "no more beige box" iMac G3 was the first new major product from Jobs since his return to Apple as CEO and what first introduced us to the design prowess of Jony Ive, an English art-school grad with dyslexia who has since become one of the world’s leading technology innovators. Ever wondered what the "i" in iMac and all of the other Apple products stood for? It turns out it simply stands for "Internet". The company emphasized that getting on the web - and easily - was its primary goal; they released a TV ad with Jeff Goldblum stating, "There's No Step 3!" - as it only took two steps to get connected to the Internet. And the best part - those colors weren't just for the 90s. Just last month, Apple said Hello (again) with the announcement of their iMac with Apple Silicon in vibrant hues.See More: Original iMac 'Colors' TV spot, iMac: The OriginiMac G3 arrives to save Apple
