Control Data Corporation Founded

July 8, 1957 - The world of supercomputing was changed forever with the establishment of Control Data Corporation. In the 1960s, CDC was known for developing the fastest supercomputers, putting the United States at the forefront of computing. The first system, the CDC 1604, was released in 1959.
