TECH TIME TRAVEL

A Giant Leap for Mankind

Gordon Gould | Wikipedia

July 20, 1969 - Nearly 52 years ago the Apollo 11 Lunar Module (LM) landed on the moon in an area coined as the Sea of Tranquility. More importantly the famous phrase, “That’s one small step for man. One giant leap for mankind.“ was born on this day as well as, "The Eagle Has Landed." This launch marked the first crewed space journey to land on the moon with Commander Neil Armstrong and Pilot Edwin E. Aldrin. Fast forward exactly 52 years and Jeff Bezos' company, Blue Origins launched its first passenger space shuttle on July 20, 2021. This launch was the first passengered flight to take off to the edge of space and return to Earth. As Armstrong said back in 1969, human travel to space really was a "giant leap for mankind" and with that Blue Origins plans to conduct 2 more passengered launches by the end of the year. We have advances in technology and innovative thinking to thank for helping make these "giant leaps for mankind." Read More: Apollo 11 LM, Blue Origins Launch
