Henri Poincaré born
April 29, 1854 - Jules Henri Poincaré is born in Nancy, France. A revolutionary yet obscure mathematician, Poincaré spearheaded advances in theoretical physics. As a student at the University of Paris, he discovered a complex function that lead to the discovery of differential equations - everyone's favorite class in college. His life's work set the state for Albert Einstein's theory of relativity, and this discovery eclipsed interest in Poincaré's work in the early 20th century.
