Michael Faraday demonstrates the electric generator
October 28, 1831 - Michael Faraday demonstrates his revolutionary invention - the electric generator. Faraday, the famed British scientist and inventor, developed the generator by wrapping a tube with copper wire and insulating it with a cloth. By sending a magnet back and forth within the tube, Faraday created electricity. The generator was no small deal, and more complex versions of Faraday's prototype now power our lives.
