Microsoft Releases Windows 2.0

December 9, 1987 - Microsoft Releases Windows 2.0. The new operating system introduced features including overlapping windows, keyboard shortcuts, and desktop icons. Microsoft released two versions of the OS: one for 8088 and one for Windows/386 which was more advanced than the 8088 basic version. The overlapping windows feature led Apple to sue Microsoft over copyright infringement. The judge ruled in Microsoft's favor. Windows 2.0 was operational until 2001 when Microsoft discontinued support.
