Generative AI is Here, but CIOs Face Tough Implementation Questions

The momentum of generative AI, spurred on by the popularity of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, is pushing CIOs to ‘mainstream’ the technology across workplaces as quickly as possible. In a KPMG executive survey this year, 65% of respondents said they believed generative AI will have a high or extremely high impact on their organization in the next three to five years. Nearly two-thirds said they’re one to two years away from implementing their first generative AI solution.

Given this push toward implementation, executives are facing hard questions on how to increase adoption while addressing the risks. We spoke with a panel of CIOs about what needs to happen before widespread adoption. Here are some of their observations.

The First Man in Space

This week, we celebrate the 63rd anniversary of a major moment in the history of space exploration and aeronautics; the first man to journey into outer space, Yuri Gagarin. Born in 1934 in Klushino, Russia, Yuri Gagarin grew up on a farm, the third of four children.

His journey into aviation began when he joined an AeroClub during his technical schooling in Saratov. Developing a passion for flying, this propelled him to the Orenburg Military Pilot’s School in 1955, setting the stage for his future as the first human to journey into space.
