Concorde Breaks Atlantic Crossing Record
September 26, 1973 – The supersonic Concorde breaks the record for crossing the Atlantic. The flight from Washington, D.C. to Paris took 3 hours and 32 minutes and was also the first non-stop flight the Concorde made across the Atlantic. The flight, operated by the French company Aerospatiale, cut the previous record light time in half. Concordes did not begin commercial service until three years later in 1976.
