Department of Homeland Security Appoints One of Its Own to Deputy CIO Role

Rear Admiral Christopher A. Bartz, a distinguished leader in the U.S. Coast Guardās Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Information Technology (C4 & IT) division, is set to assume the role of Deputy Chief Information Officer at the Department of Homeland Security.
His appointment comes as he succeeds Beth Cappello, who is retiring on March 9, 2024, after 33 years of dedicated government service. Rear Admiral Bartz, who currently holds the position of Chief Information Officer for the Coast Guard, is slated to officially begin his new role on February 5, 2024.
