May 19, 2001 – Apple Computer opens the first two locations of the twenty-five retail stores that would be opened in the US by the end of the year. With one in McLean, Virginia, and the other in Washington, D.C., these flagship stores marked the beginning of Apple’s ambitious expansion strategy for the year.
