V.92 Modem Standard Introduced
February 27, 2001 - US Robotics introduces the V.92 modem standard. After the explosion of broadband Internet, V.92 allowed for stronger support of a modem connection, and its quick-connect function cut "training times" every time a connection is established. Because V.92 required ISPs to update their infrastructure, it had only a small impact following its launch. Read more about the functionality of V.92.
