Apollo Computer Incorporated
February 13, 1980 – Apollo Computer was incorporated in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. The company helped to create the original network workstations and was the biggest manufacturer of them from 1980 to 1987. Apollo also produced a lot of its own hardware and software, unlike the manufacturers of IBM PC compatible. In 1989, Hewlett-Packard Company acquired Apollo for an astounding $479 million, bringing an end to the short-lived, yet revolutionary company.
